I discovered my passion for dog behavior as a volunteer for a privately owned, no kill dog shelter in Portland Oregon. The shelter housed their dogs in packs and specialized in strategically placing the “Misfits” in their forever homes.

It was fascinating and rewarding to observe, train and respect the unspoken language of dog behavior. This led me to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. After four years as a veterinary assistant and a lot of studying, determination and tenacity I challenged the veterinary medical board and secured my certified veterinary technician license. I practiced in small animal medicine for another four years before realizing the need to come home.

My husband and I embarked in a RV voyage, from Oregon to Cape Cod.  We currently reside in Johnson with our Minnie Dachshund “Rainy” and Japanese Chin “Jiro”. I am excited for the opportunity to utilize my experience and knowledge at Thin Blue Line K9.

What our customers say

“I cannot say enough about Tom as a trainer and person, his knowledge, understanding of dogs and people coupled with his years of training police dogs shone through when working with us our rescue pup. Zach came to us at 9 months with basic training after only a few sessions with Tom, Zach had better recall, listening and leash skills.  Zach’s biggest issue was being getting overly excited on the leash and although it is still a work in progress the tools that were provided by Tom continues to help us guide Zach towards the success he will need to overcome this issue.  Although we completed Zach’s training Tom continues to support and offer advice to us whenever we need it. Tom cares greatly about the dogs and people he works with I would recommend ThinbluelineK9 to anyone who is looking for a great trainer!”

Lisa and Brian Campbell

“I have had the opportunity to work with Tom for 18 years as a K9 handler, trainer, board member, and friend. He is well respected in all of these categories. In K9 training, we often speak of “your toolbox” of ideas, plans, tools, methods, and even tricks, all to use while training dogs. Tom’s toolbox is overflowing with ideas, and he is able to combine these in a manner that will get teams what they desire. I would recommend Tom’s training to anybody wanting to get the best out of their canine companion.”

Dave Dewey

“I’ve known Tom Radford for over 16 years. He is extremely professional, and knowledgeable about canine behavior. He has personally helped me and many others with with training our own service dogs. The effort he puts in to his true passion is second to none and the patience he has with dogs and their owners is a truly welcoming feeling when learning how to train your own dog. I highly recommend Tom Radford and Thin Blue Line K-9.”
